Dr Rajendra Sharma, MB BCh BAO LRCP&S (Ire) MFHom, qualified in Medicine in 1984 from The Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, Ireland. Following initial experience within the NHS, he has developed a longstanding career in Complementary and Functional Medicine while maintaining full registration with the GMC.
Dr Sharma is a Member of The Faculty of Homoeopathy and graduated first in his year from the Hahnemann College, London. He went on to become Medical Director of The Hale Clinic, one of the UK’s most respected complementary medicine centres, and is currently Senior Medical Advisor there. Dr Sharma was the Secretary and an Education Modulator for The British Society for Ecological Medicine, the UK’s leading society in promoting therapeutic approaches for clinical practice, in allergy, environmental, and nutritional medicine.
His clinical focus centres on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness, particularly in patients with chronic or treatment-resistant conditions. Over several decades, he and colleagues, experts in extensive ranges of Functional, and Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM), use emerging and pioneering research into longevity, healthy-aging and complex or chronic health conditions. These include arterial and heart health, the Metabolic Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndromes/ME, inflammatory and irritable bowel disease (IBD/IBS), persistent or recurrent infections, thyroid and hormonal disorders, mental and emotional health conditions, and, more recently, Long Covid. He has a particular interest in the metabolic and integrative support for those undergoing cancer treatment.

Dr Sharma is particularly known for applying Functional Medicine principles and Ecological Health screening to clinical practice. This includes food sensitivities, exposure to environmental pollutants, including assessment of heavy metal toxicity, nutritional deficiencies, and other biochemical imbalances that may contribute to chronic disease. His therapeutic approach emphasises nutritional medicine, targeted supplementation, and non-pharmaceutical strategies to restore physiological balance and optimise long-term health outcomes. He utilises the expanding research into genomic and environmental genomics (individualised genetics)
He is also the author of an award-winning book on longevity and healthy-ageing, “Live Longer Live Younger”, which explores evidence-based, pioneering strategies for extending health span through Functional Medicine testing, lifestyle and therapeutic approaches. He additionally previously authored The Family Encyclopedia of Health, providing practical health guidance for the public and practitioners.
